Learning About Stem Cells And Why Its Use Is An Issue For Others
Stem cells are now gaining popularity, and you may have heard of it in the news, read about it in magazines, blogs or articles, but what are these stems cells and where do they come from?
In essence a human actually starts as single egg cell, its fertilized, divide into several cells and the differences to create human parts that are functional such as muscle cells or blood cells, this is the process of differentiation where most of the human body is more on. The so-called stem cells are cells that did not pass through the differentiation stage as yet, and these can regenerate multiple time to become another stem cell or as a differentiated cell.
Stem cells can be taken in two ways and this can be from a 2-5 day’s old embryo called embryonic stem cells, and the other is taken from a bone marrow and fatty tissues from a patient called the adult stem cells.
In most uses of stem cells, the most popular is its essential functions in the regenerative medicine as researches have been conducted that it is effective for the repair or replace tissue or any organ function lost due to congenital defects, disease, damage, or age. the most controversial issue faced in the history of stem cell research and extraction evolved mainly in the fact that is taken from a human embryo that technically is already a human life in form and the process of taking stem cells through it will waste the life or continued formation of life.
This issue has been a debated aspect especially by certain groups that also revolves in the aspect of ethical issues that result in the head to head argument between science and religion.
One more issue that concerns the use of stem cells is the fact that there are some clinics that use stem cells as treatments, and claims cure even to those diseases that have no known treatment as yet, and these claims have no related and proven research too. It is for this reason that the effectivity and credibility of the research made for stem cells that are proven real are put into question and many people have begun to doubt here the effectivity of stem cell, just because of those false claims.
Make sure that when you decide to use stem cell for any treatment, ensure that the clinic you go through have performed the extensive research in their treatment, and know those that are less reputable that may not be good for you.
In the present time, continued research is still done to ensure full functionally of stem cell, and eradicate those controversies surrounding it, and once this research is gone wide, it will be the great future of regenerative medicine.
